Back to the archives!

The expedition to rediscover the William S Cooper plots in Glacier Bay was successful this summer, so we can now really start investing in the time needed to reconstruct the whole story of plot development.  While the only publications were in the 1920's and 1930's, there is a wealth of data on a 7-10 year interval through the 1980's - all sitting in boxes in the Elmer L Andersen archives at the University of Minnesota.

I received a Research Scholarship award to go visit and obtain copies of all of the records, including historical maps, photos, and datasets from Cooper and Lawrence (his student), which will enable us to put together a more complete time series on the longest running permanent plot network for primary succession in the world.  So back to the stacks.
